BudgetNote is a product of YZEE Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Data Collection

We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services.

1.1 Personal Information

  • Email Address: Collected during purchase to deliver your license key, device-management links, and purchase receipt.

1.2 Technical Information

  • Device ID: A unique identifier generated on your device to enforce license limits.
  • Device Name: (e.g., "MacBook Pro") to help you identify your devices in the management portal.
  • Mobile Sync Metadata: If you use the Pro phone app, we process phone device IDs, vault routing IDs, sync timestamps, and delivery status.
  • Encrypted Sync Blobs: Phone entries are encrypted on your device before upload and stored temporarily only so your desktop can retrieve them.
  • IP Address: Logged temporarily during activation for security and fraud prevention.

1.3 Website Analytics

This website — budgetnote.net — uses privacy-oriented product analytics to understand which pages people read and which links they click, so we can improve the site. This applies to the website only. The desktop app ships no analytics and reports nothing back to us.

  • Page and Event Data: Pages viewed, referring page, approximate region, browser and operating system, and which buttons or links you click (for example, choosing a download or opening a comparison page).
  • Analytics Identifier: A random identifier stored in your browser so repeat visits are not counted twice. It is not linked to your name, email, license key, or any financial data.

1.4 What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect plaintext financial data, transactions, or budgeting information.
  • Your desktop budgeting data stays in your local vault folder.
  • Mobile Sync payloads are encrypted before upload, and we cannot read your spending habits or financial information from them.
  • Website analytics never touch your budgeting data. The two systems are entirely separate, and the desktop app contains no analytics SDK.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To verify your Pro License status.
  • To enforce the limit of one active device per license key.
  • To send transactional emails (receipts, license keys).
  • To allow you to manage your devices via the self-service portal.
  • To deliver encrypted Mobile Sync entries from a paired phone back to your desktop.
  • To measure how this website is used, so we can improve it.

3. Data Storage & Security

  • Your activation data is stored in a secure database hosted by our cloud provider.
  • Encrypted Mobile Sync blobs are temporary and are purged after desktop delivery or relay cleanup.
  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • Payment data is handled by the checkout provider used for your purchase, such as Lemon Squeezy or Microsoft Store. We never see your credit card number.

4. Your Rights

You have the right to request deletion of your data.

  • To Delete: Email [email protected] with the subject "Data Deletion Request".
  • Note that deleting your data will revoke your Pro License, since we will no longer have your device activation records.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Lemon Squeezy: Processes payments and handles tax compliance. Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft Store: Processes Microsoft Store purchases and receipts. Privacy Statement
  • MailerSend: Sends transactional emails (license keys, magic links). Privacy Policy
  • PostHog: Product analytics for this website only. Privacy Policy

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of changes. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last Updated" date.
